Smokin’ Jo takes over Fridays with this week’s guest DJs including Mark Ronson + Sandy Rivera (Kings of Tomorrow) + more TBC

Sunday Roast/Play It by Ear Closing Date announced

‘Vamp Rocks’ confirms its return for Halloween

(FIX/IBIZA/PR/13 Sept 2013)

Who would have thunk it?! Here we are in September and according to the recent weather, summer definitely seems to be coming to a close. But up atIbiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel, and as the sign at the front entrance says, it ain’t over till the fat lady sings. And she ain’t singin’ just yet…

After a very successful run on Fridays, Idris Elba finally left our shores to shimmy his way up the red carpets of the international movie world, with the premier of his latest blockbuster, Pacific Rim. Accepting the challenge and the party gauntlet, Smokin’ Jo is the woman responsible for getting the weekend going through the month of September. Last week’s Guest DJs Skin (Skunk Anansie), David Morales, Bones, Andy Carroll and Colin Peters blew the imaginary roof off the House, and this weekan equally smashing line up including none other than Ibiza Rocks House’s old chum Mark Ronson plus Sandy Rivera (Kings of Tomorrow) joining Smokin’ Jo with yet another superstar yet to be announced.

Kicking off at midnight, just as We Are Rockstars comes to a close over at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, Fridays have gone from strength to strength up at IRH over the summer and don’t look to have any notion of stopping just yet. Our kind of people, our kind of music, our kind of fun…

Moving on to the regular Sunday summer shenanigans and renowned party starter, DJ Antz Bryans, has wowed us all over the last weeks with a line up of guest DJs that have been nothing if not diverse- from much respected DJ Arthur Baker to  Eastenders’ star Patsy Palmer, Disco Don Nigel Atkin, Hugo Heathcote, Jon Sa Trinxa, Colin Peters, Dave Lubin and Justin Field amongst them. With five events to go, our main man is pulling out the sonic stops for this last month of events at the rock n roll hotel of choice. As for the simultaneous Sunday Roast– it’s the perfect choice for these September days; make sure you bring a big appetite. We recommend pre-booking your table (details below). As for the actual Closing Party onSunday October 13, we should probably mention that post-sunset, the evening will turn somewhat all Rocky Horror Picture Show with a screening of the legendary musical with the party continuing on into the wee small hours. Fishnets at the ready, time is fleeting and madness takes its toll…

Which brings us rather neatly to Halloween and, after last year’s successful scariness, we are very excited to announce the return of VAMP ROCKS on31 October. With tickets at 10€, price including a chalice of our finest mead plus a very scary surprise, this is guaranteed to be a night of shrieking good fun all round. No fancy dress, no entrance. DJs on the night include Stray Kitten, Bones and more TBC.

In other news, and following on from the recent Freddie Rocks Fundraiser on 1 Sept, it’s with an enormous amount of pride that we announce that the total raised so far for the Mercury Phoenix Trust at this year’s event is 4,500€ and counting! Massive thanks to all who got involved with the annual hirsute fundraiser- this is one doo that is becoming quite the institution at the house on the hill.

Flag Up the Dates!

Antz_Hirst_4Logos Antz announces summer DJ residency at Sacca Ibiza

·      Squeezes in a set at Carl Cox’s birthday party

·      Pet Shop Boys approve Drop Jackson ‘Vocal’ remix

·      Prince Harry and The P.M big fans

(FIX/IBIZA/23 JULY2013):  On an island saturated somewhat by sameness, Anthony ANTZ Bryans is a prime player in helping keep the authentic wheels of Balearia turning all over Ibiza, a DJ of such high standing that you may not even have heard of him. This is the man who, in the space of a fortnight, has generated national UK press headlines for getting Prince Harry, Kate Moss and the British Prime MinisterDavid Cameron to throw shapes on the dancefloor, who has been name-checked in the Sunday Times as a key reference in the social calendar of every Sloane Raver, who played a stonking set at the Rolling Stones after-party at Glastonbury and a man who, most of all, is happiest hiding out in his Ibiza abode, making music and loving life.

As one of the instigators of the original house music scene, back in the day, beside the likes of Danny Rampling and Nicky Holloway, Bryans already proved his worth a long time ago. These days, in Ibiza, his reputation as a proper party-starter stands strong. We highly recommend you add one or more of the following happenings to your Ibiza itinerary:

Antz has long since been associated with the venue formerly known as Aura, now SACCA, having held his very successful DJ residency there every Friday since 2005. Now under new management, Antz’ reign continues on the Sant Joan Mile every Thursday through summer, with a number of guest DJS popping in along the way just to add to the melee…

SUNDAY ROAST 2013.06.30 EX

Three years in and Antz is still going strong at Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel, turning every Sunday into a reason to be cheerful with his ‘Play it By Ear’ parties proving the perfect complement to the hotel’s Sunday Roast. With guest DJs including the best of the best in local talent plus a few very special surprise sets along the way.

SUNDAY 28th  July : East Coast to East End, Antz’ Guest DJs are Arthur Baker and Patsy Palmer!!!

IN OTHER NEWS, and as per last year, Antz’ formed part of the hand-picked line up of DJs chosen to play at legendary DJ Carl Cox’s recent birthday celebration at Sands Ibiza. Bit of an honour, no matter what way you look at it, more so when we tell you that Antz is also confirmed for Cox’s annual September gathering, also at Sands. The big man summed it up beautifully: “Antz knows his music, works the crowd, plays for the occasion. There is something to be said for us older guys!”

Being the private party DJ of choice both on the island and back on his native turf in the U.K, Antz is continuously booked to play at an infinite number of high society and private parties summer and winter alike, the half of which are so hush-hush we don’t even tell you about them!

But aside from his constant gigging, Bryans has spent the past six months barricaded in his studio, working side by side with respected DJ/producer Anthony Gorry (recently landed from producing the latest No Doubt comeback album). The duo, collectively known as Drop Jackson, are currently putting the finishing touches to their joint EP and amongst other tracks, their remix of the Pet Shop Boys‘Vocal’, has already been approved by the PSB and is due to be unleashed in the Ibiza clubs before summer is out.

Lastly, an update on Antz’s continuous charity work. Ever the philanthropist, most recently, Antz massively stepped up at the 1st Ibiza Charity Polo Cup, as linker and headline DJ at the event, held in June. Organisers Ibiza Delivers handed over a very commendable 8,000€ to the AECC (Spanish Cancer Assoc, Ibiza & Formentera Branch), proceeds of the first such event at the Ibiza Polo Club . A great result for all involved in the event.

Coming up on 1st September, and Antz also stars on the line up at Freddie Rocks Ibiza, an annual event held in aid of The Mercury Phoenix Trust, an organization set up by the remaining members of supergroup Queen, after the passing of the band’s frontman, Freddie Mercury, and raising funds for HIV + AIDS patients. This is the third year that Ibiza Rocks House has hosted this particular charity event, a cause close to their own hearts, Freddie Mercury having played such an important role in Pikes’ history.

As for this week though, we’d like to speculate that our mysterious Man of Music may well be slipping through a back door at St.Mary’s Hospital, summoned by Queenie herself to set the occasion of the Royal Baby Arrival to some sweet, sweet music. For when it comes to Antz these days, nothing, and we mean, nothing would surprise us…

The second annual Ibiza ‘Freddie for a Day’ Fundraiser for the Mercury Phoenix Trust is confirmed for Sunday 2nd September

Special guests confirmed include 2Mercury BJs, Mark Jones, Lottie, Andy Carroll, Colin Peters, Stray Kitten and Grayson Shipley plus a VERY SPECIAL GUEST with a special live performance from Wall of Sound’s hotly tipped next best thing, BB and upcoming band, Visitors.

The date of the event coincides with what would have been the Queen front man’s 66th birthday.

Ibiza//FIX Ibiza//30 Aug 2012

Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly squeeze any more fun into your summer, Ibiza Rocks proves you wrong once again. Following on from the success of last year’s ‘Freddie for a Day’ charity fundraiser at Ibiza Rocks House, Mark Jones & his Wall of Sound crew are back for more fun and nonsense, all in the best possible taste, and all for a great cause- The Mercury Phoenix Trust- that wonderful legacy left to us by international music icon, Freddie Mercury, not to mention the fellow members of his supergroup- Queen.

Sunday, 2nd September is the date confirmed for the event, with the early part of the day set aside for munchin’ and a-minglin’ alongside the traditional Sunday Roast from 2pm. A spot of lunch, a dip in the hotel’s famous pool, a quick snooze and it’s time to get togs on and ‘tashed up for what is set to be yet one more magic moment in the annals of Ibiza Rocks history.

As per last year, organiser Mark Jones, Wall of Sound main man, has put together a line up that really stands out from the Ibiza crowd. As well as DJs including Lottie, Andy Carroll, Colin Peters, Stray Kitten and Grayson Shipley, get set for three headlining guest DJs SO special we are not even allowed to announce it. But hear this, you’d be mental to miss it…

And then there are the live elements of the event. Ibiza Rocks House are pleased to present an exclusive performance from UK band, Visitors, as well as, brought to us by Wall Of Sound, BB. Hotly tipped as the next best thing. BB were formed after a chance meeting at the BBC Introducing Master Class of 2011 at Abbey Road Studios. Singer Billy Wright & drummer Robert Gulston immediately bonded over a passion for pop songs, dance music and exciting live shows. After locking themselves away in a studio in their hometown of Southend, the duo honed their writing formula and emerged in 2012 with a galvanised sound and a live show that combines euphoric samples, thumping drums, explosive guitars and insanely catchy melodies. They are currently adding the final touches to their debut album.

Asked about their upcoming gig at Ibiza Rocks House and BB had this to say: “Freddie was the kind of musician you wanted to be from the first time you picked up a mic or sat down to write a song. There was something magnetic about his performances, he had thousands of people in the palm of his hand…No one has come close since. So when you get asked to go to Ibiza and pay tribute to Freddie, you go!”

Bearing in mind at all times that this is a fundraising event, party goers are asked to seriously get involved! As well as encouraging as many Freddie lookie-likees as possible on the night, organisers stressed that the easiest way to make a contribution to the cause was by purchasing your Freddie Moustache on entrance to Ibiza Rocks House, with all proceeds going directly to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

From the depths of his dressing up box, in the search for his Freddie costume, no doubt, Mark Jones piped up that “after last years’ crazy scenes and amazing night of fun-fun-fun it seems only right to press play and pay homage to Freddie again with Ibiza Rocks House / Pikes Hotel as the incredible setting.Bringing to light the creative genius and talent of Mr. Mercury to Ibiza is a real honour..

We Will, We Will Rock You ! ”

About the Charity:

Freddie Mercury died of AIDS related causes in London on 24th November 1991. Almost immediately after, the remaining members of Queen and Jim Beach, the band’s manager, took the decision to raise money and awareness about AIDS in his memory. Together they organised the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness. The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded to distribute the monies raised from this concert and it has continued to be engaged in numerous other fundraising activities.

Since 1992 the Mercury Phoenix Trust has been responsible for donating more than $15 million in the fight against AIDS making over 750 grants to charities worldwide. Applications for grants have come in from many countries around the world and collaboration has been realised with groups as far removed as the World Health Organisation to grass-root organisations run partly by voluntary workers in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Nepal and India. The Trust has adapted its policy to concentrate on HIV/AIDS education and awareness in the developing world.

The legend of Pikes Hotel.

When it comes to rock n roll anecdotes, Freddie Mercury’s fame where Pikes Hotel is concerned is legendary. A regular fixture of the hotel, he was a close friend of the hotel’s original owner Tony Pike ‘back in the day’ and as the story so famously goes, Mercury celebrated his 41st birthday at the hidden hotel; a party that lasted for days and spawned many of the aforementioned anecdotes.

These days, and although the world is a less flamboyant place since the passing of the Queen vocalist, his memory lives on at Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes, not least through the Freddie Suite at Ibiza Rocks House; an enormous room, the centre of hedonism and happy times during Freddie’s reign, now converted into one of the island’s nocturnal hot-spots for those in the know. Lovingly restored under the ownership and careful direction of Ibiza’s foremost live music promoters, Andy McKay and Dawn Hindle. Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes continues to celebrate Freddie’s free spirit and zest for life.

As a final point to note, with the date of the event so close to what would have been Freddie Mercury’s 66th birthday, the aim of the event is to celebrate the life and times of one of the best, whilst raising funds to help those affected by what took him from us.

Because ‘these are the days of our lives…’ Lets make it a suitable homage to the King of Queen…
