…a night of scary surprises, horrible hellbabies and freaky fun…

Thursday 31 October from 9pm

‘Slip out from the shadows, you creatures of the Ibiza night,
Halloween is creeping up and it’s not a pretty sight,
Ghosts and Ghouls, Spooks and Sprites,
Blood and Gore when this Vamp bites…’

After last year’s scarily successful party of the same time, Halloween ‘wildcard’, VAMP is back in black this Thursday 31st October for a night of toe-tingling, blood-curdling madness up at Ibiza’s favourite haunted house on the hill, the 400 year old finca that is Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel.

VAMP-HALLOWEEN-POSTER

As per last year, organisers of the Halloween extravaganza Jillian Canney (FIX Ibiza) and Leanne Chilton (Ibiza Rocks) are pulling out the stops, diving head first into their cast iron cauldron of morbid mischief and saucy spells, their ultimate goal to trick and treat Ibiza’s naughtiest nocturnal creatures to a Halloween they may never forget.

Providing the spooky soundtrack throughout the night, DJs BONES, STRAY KITTEN, DAVID PHILLIPS, MISS CHADDERS and STEF SWINGLER are the demons in charge of the dancefloor.  Local duo SERENADE will also be creeping out of the shadows for a live (as opposed to undead) performance very much based on the event’s central theme of Halloween. All of the above combined and plenty of opportunity to bust one’s monster moves on the dancefloor.

Amongst other scary surprises being concocted for the party, beware of the Bloody Bathtub, where guests are invited to scream, shriek and even sing the night away in the SCAREOKE competition. Prize for the best crooner…

Talking of prizes, Head Vamps Jill and Leanne will also be dishing out a few of those along the course of the evening for the best Halloween costumes, fancy dress pretty much obligatory for this particular party. Think vampires, werewolves, witches, faeries, demons, devils, spirits, shapeshifters, ghouls, ghosts, zombies, monsters, mummies, and mynaeds but don’t be scared, any other variety of spooky/inventive/topical/comedy fancy dress get up is welcome to join in the manky mix.

Keeping up the Halloween spirit, literally, local spiritualist and medium Lisa Chadderton (Garden of Light) will be conducting a series of one-on-one psychic readings throughout the evening. A limited number of time slots are available for booking and reservations are recommended.

In charge of lighting and special effects in and around the hotel and its grounds, island experts, Aladdin Lights are back on board to help turn this Halloween into a veritable Nightmare on Pike St. Man behind that particular operation, Simon Hall promises an assortment of tricks and treats to make you turn in your grave.

As far as fodder goes, organisers have another bonus lined up for their gory guests with local catering company, Cook Ibiza stepping up to provide a Halloween BBQ with a difference at an additional cost of 20€ per head. With a menu very much in keeping with the theme, the Cook Ibiza team will be serving up a feast fit for the most bloodthirsty of critters from 9pm-11pm, with a selection of the finest cuts of meat, all sourced from local suppliers and accompanied by a selection of salads and other yummy Halloween treats. Advance booking is recommended.  http://www.grubclub.com/Cook-Ibiza

As a final point to note, and due to public demand, last year’s Star of the Halloween Show, The Gnarly Witch will also make a return visit to Pikes for Halloween, bringing with her a new addition to the proceedings, the HellBaby, offspring of the Gnarly one and spawned by Satan himself. Devilled Eggs, if you will…

All that, plus a whole lot more blood, guts and gore; a monster mash from 9pm till the last banshee wails.

Tickets are now on sale at 10€ and prior purchase is recommended for guaranteed entry. Price includes a trick or treat, a witch’s sup and a bloody good night out.

(FIX IBIZA/ 2 MAY 2013):: For the 3rd year in Ibiza, the island’s rock n roll retrofest, ROCK N MOLA, is back on the island with the confirmed dates set as 17-19 May 2013. With the San Jordi village plaza as its central rockin’ point, organisers of the event have confirmed a choice selection of live music andDJs over the course of the weekend, along with the return of the Rock n Mola Market, the Classic Car Show, Pin Up Studio, MotoMania, BabyRockers, Classic Cinema and lots and lots more rockin’ rollin’ stuff for the young and the young at heart.

As per the previous two editions of the event, it’s the music which forms the backbone of the weekend long celebration of vintage lifestyle and this year, Rock n Mola is bringing to the island for the debut performance in the Baleares, a band that are raising the rockabilly roof across Europe; all hail THE CAEZARS! The 5 piece group of young whippersnappers, hailing from London, have been storming their scene over the last few years, getting airplay across BBC Radio and raking in reviews that that describes their Vintage styled Surf-Rock & Rock’n’Roll as something “that Tarantino would be proud of”  (Timeout Magazine). They look the part, they sound the part, they live the part!

Joining them on the stage, and across San Jordi, a wealth of international and island talent includingThe Moonshine Band, Elv.Is Bob, The Folkin’ Hobos and introducing the festival’s youngblood, we’re bringing in extraordinarily talented local boy, Marlon Lopez. Between them plus DJs includingStray Kitten, Peter Colins, Selector No Roots, Twisted Ace, The Shelter, Daisy Heartbreaker, Bombatron and Bones, expect a soundtrack combining pyschobilly, rockabilly, roots, country, swing, stroll and all that jazz.  Rock, n Roll, people…

As for where you can find all of the above happening, apart from San Jordi Plaza, Rock n Mola HotSpots are confirmed as Boutique Hostal Salinas, Can Jordi, Vinyl Burger Bar, Cadillac Burger and the HAMC Ibiza Chapter ClubHouse with several San Jordi locals also being confirmed. Fix’s own Can Canney will no doubt also become a bit of a meeting point, but that’s only for those really in the know!

In the Rock n Mola RetroMart, which will take place on Saturday 18th, morning til night, Rock n Mola have once again gathered together a group of vintage and retro lovers and sellers, all bringing their wares of all shapes and sizes to the Rock n Mola market on Saturday 18th, again in the Plaza San Jordi. From Cupcake Collection keeping us sweet to Trash Tienda multitude of recycle/restyle bargains, local labels including Bonnie & Crime’s retro heroes as well as two U.K vintage shops, Voodoo Doll and What Alice Found, plus many more interspersed between the classic cars of The Classic Automovile Club Ibiza and local company, Cars from Yesterday as well customized motorbikes from local businesses and private owners, the local motorbike groups and other classic vehicles.

Meanwhile, over in the Rock n Mola Kissing Booth- Ibiza Pin Ups are taking over, getting you girls all dolled up pin-up style for the evening ahead. Freshly landed from Australia, Pin Up’s founder Emma Salmon and her cutie-patootie team of chicas are on hand to do your vintage hair and make- up and will even get you dressed in one of their cheeky little retro outfits for your Pin Up Photo Shoot. This is old school glamour at its height and of course, ALL our Pin Ups will automatically go forward in the selection to find our Rock n Mola Queen of The Hop 2013!!

Back on the stage, entertaining us with their twistin’ and jivin’ dance moves, it’s the Capricorn Dance School, who, under the guidance of their director, Sandy Plant, will be leading the crowd in a jive session in the Square. With Arts and Crafts, face painting and Kids’ activities all in all it’s a weekend of fun, family, music and colour retro rock n roll style, just like the olden days!

As of now, FIX Ibiza are full steam ahead with preparations for this third edition of Rock n Mola, and welcome all suggestions on how to make this year’s event bigger and better!Members of the public are invited to contact organisers if they wish to participate.

Get your dancing shoes on, it’s Rock n Mola O’Clock!

AN ECUMENICAL MATTER FOR ST.PATRICKS DAY

733751_10152605631845123_500043563_nTHE 1ST FATHER TED FEST TO TAKE PLACE AT FATHER JACKS IRISH PUB

‘NUNS &PRIESTS’ SET FOR THE ST.PATRICKS SHENANIGANS ON

SUNDAY 17TH MARCH

(FIX/IBIZA//15TH MAR 2013) On an island like Ibiza, where, unlike many other parts of the world, lets face it, there aren’t actually that many Irish emigrants or Irish pubs for that matter, and what with one half of FIX IBIZA being a pure green-blood, we decided it would only be right to throw a petite shindig on ST.PATRICKS DAY for all us Irish and Wannabe Irish on our most important day of the year and also, our biggest excuse to get suckin’ on the aul’ diesel…Sunday 17th March is the big, green day of choice.

We’ve chosen probably the only Irish pub open on the island this Sunday, FATHER JACKS, in Figueretas as the location for this, the first Father Ted Fest on the island, combining our love of St.Paddy’s with our love of all things Craggy Island. The event will be a homage to Fathers Ted, Dougal and of course, dear old Jack, and of course, to the late, great Dermot Morgan, creator and star of the hilarious TV series, who died whilst filming the last episode of Father Ted, back in 1998. God Rest Him…

The party will pretty much be a daylong affair and one for all the family, and since the pub opens at 10am till 3am, there’s plenty of time to nip in for a pint of the old Gee-Gee throughout the course of the day.

In keeping with the Craggy Island spirit, we plan a number of activities throughout the course of the Ted Fest including:

  • The Lovely Girls Competition
  • The Sheep Throwing Challenge
  • The Confessional Box
  • The Parish Hall Céilidh
  • A Quick Pray

and more stuff and nonsense as it occurs to us…

GETTING INTO THE SWING ALREADY! SISTERS LEANNE & HAYLEY

And the there’s the music…and a total coup for the Ted Fest, as we are proud to present, in their premier gig on the island, THE FOLKIN’ HOBOS! The recently formed three piece composed of Angie Smith, Joan Espinosa Molina and Aurelio XXX promise a musical medley of folk, rock n roll, country and a few Oirish diddies thrown in to mark the occasion and will grace our modest stage from 8pm.You don’t want to miss this one!

There’ll also be plenty more ceol agus craic, Irish Stew throughout the day, a bit of football for the boys in the afternoon and of course, Mrs. Doyle will be on hand all day with her infamous unending pot of tea and huge plate of sandwiches…

ROUGH SCHEDULE:

10AM: OPEN!

12PM: GET THE STEWS ON…

2.30PM: SUNDERLAND VS NORWICH

5.00PM: CHELSEA VS WEST HAM

7PM: GATHERING OF THE CLERICS

8PM- 8.30PM: THE FOLKIN’ HOBOS MAKE THEIR DEBUT

8.30PM: SHEEP THROWING CHALLENGE//CONFESSIONS//A QUICK PRAY

9.30-10.15PM: THE FOLKIN’ HOBOS

10.30PM: THE LOVELY GIRLS COMPETITION

11PM: TIME FOR A CEILIDH

12AM: DRINKING, SINGING, DANCING, LAUGHING, CRYING, NO FIGHTING!

DRESS CODE! This is important. Basically, it’s all about the nuns and the priests…we want to see plenty of each…and if there are any bishops in the house, do come on down…Think of it like a little convention…

If you can’t manage that, then try to look at least a bit like a Craggy Island Resident or just come dressed in green and you’ll be laughing…
