FRIDAYS ARE THE NEW THURSDAYS! ANTZ AT SACCA UPDATE!

ANTZ AT SACCA starting TONIGHT 16 Aug

Drinks, Dinner and Dance- in that order!

(FIX/IBIZA/16 AUG 2013)

There are certain things round here that definitely need to be changed and then, there are other things where the old adage, ‘If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’ definitely applies. Anthony Antz Bryans’ current DJ residency at Sacca, formerly Aura, is a fine example. For that reason, as of TONIGHT, FRIDAY 16 AUG, you’ll find the island’s most respected private party DJ doing what it is he does best- kickstarting the island’s weekends in his own inimitable by way of a subtle and very harmonious shift back to Fridays from Thursdays for our man with the cans.

Long since associated with the highly reputable restaurant cum lounge bar on the Sant Joan road, having held his very successful Friday night DJ residency there since 2005, Antz is considered a part of the venue’s bricks and mortar foundation ever since those formative days, having helped place the destination location on the map for residents and visitors alike practically since its beginnings.

Now, with the restaurant/lounge bar under brand new management and with a brand new name and concept, Antz & Co are over the moon to announce that, after an initial first few weeks of taking over Thursday nights at Sacca’s Lounge Bar, Kuro, our main man is back behind the controls of the venue’s DJ booth this and every Friday till we tell you otherwise. filling the dancefloor to bursting with both the island’s top party people as well as Antz’ own impressive crew of international movers and shakers.

In keeping with Sacca’s sophisticated style, Antz’ sound is the perfect fit and this, coupled with his ability to read his crowd, makes him the DJ of choice for those looking for an after dinner drink and dance. But, lets not get carried away, this is no underground rave, no typical Ibiza club night. This is something else, something for the more discerning individual, and considering that Sacca is a high-end, Asian dining experience, with award-wining Australian chef Lex Hauser at the helm, and a menu that combines subtle Asian flavours alongside hand- picked superior Chinese, Thai and Japanese foods, there’s really no excuse not to make a night of it. With that in mind, we highly recommend you get your troops together, book a table and enjoy the meticulously prepared dishes on offer at Sacca.

Post-fine dining, or even during, and it would be rude not to take advantage of the fact that this summer, German Techno God and aficionado of all things Japanese, DJ and producer Richie Hawtin, has relocated his own Sake Bar to Sacca, giving clients the opportunity to indulge in the alcoholic beverage of choice in the Land of the Rising Sun. Arigatoo, Richie San.

(Oh! And did we mention the complimentary champagne for table bookings of 10+?!)

(Call SACCA to book, details below)

All in all, music to everybody’s ears, we wager…we’d love to see you there!

(FIX/Ibiza/10 July 2013): Back in June, Hotel Es Vivé kicked off its summer season with a BIG party, celebrating the return to the music scene with their first compilation release for 2 years produced by Seamless Recordings. Now, it’s time for Part 2, this Friday 12thJuly and this time, Seamless are shouting it from the rooftop of one of Ibiza’s most emblematic hotels- back at Es Vivé

In an evening dedicated to showcasing the very best of Seamless talent, DJs Graham Sahara and Nicc Johnson are on the decks, whilst on the mic, it’s a pleasure to bring one of Ibiza’s most talented vocalists, Jude, to join the party.

The event starts at 8pm right up on that Es Vivé rooftop, later moving downstairs to the Deco Bar and finally finishing in the hotel’s Experience Bar where Tom Crane and friends step up to the controls until the early hours of the morning…

As per Seamless’ first summer event, and as well as the artists, it’s the new Es Vivé compilation that steps up for a starring role. Produced by Seamless Recordings, the 3CD album is filled with a fine blend of chillout, deep house, tech house and house, Seamless style.

Keep your eyes open! A limited number of copies of the album will be given away to the lucky few at the event; the compilation is also available to buy at the hotel.

The Showcase  & The Album:
Nicc Johnson
…is the DJ’s DJ. Born in Amsterdam, Nicc was thrust into music from an early age when he moved with his family to Ibiza. Like most people on the White Isle, his exposure to music, and in particular, electronic music, set the tone for what would play a large part of his life.

From his humble beginnings playing music at the Pacha Flagship Clothing store, at the tender age of 16, he has DJed across the globe and is currently in his 6th season as a Pacha Resident.

As a producer, Nicc Johnson has released music on Seamless Recordings, DCS Trax, Mother Recordings, Miguel Mig’s label Salted and the illustrious Large Music, a legendary Chicago label responsible for nurturing the careers of Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer and many other prominent underground house artists.

To date, every one of Johnson’s tracks has received top ten status on one or more music download sites including Traxsource, Juno and Beatport.

His 2012 collaboration with Aussie duo Random Soul on legendary Large, reached number 1 on Traxsource and his newest release on Berlin Label, Mother Recordings, is already in the Top 100 after 5 days.

Graham Sahara
…is a very familiar Ibiza face who has been and continues to be a resident of the both legendary Ibizan super club Pacha Ibiza, and also Km5 Bar Lounge for the last 10 years. Graham has been an Ibiza resident since the legendary party days of the 1990’s and has graced the decks of pretty much every super club and venue of note on the island.  He is also head of A&R for Seamless Recordings as well as producing music with releases on labels including Spinnin’, Pacha Recordings, MOS and Seamless.

Jude
…is originally from the UK, now resident vocalist in Ibiza, Jude started her musical career at an early age, studying and performing for many years before arriving in Ibiza.

She has written, performed and recorded with many electronic music producers, including Rui Da Silva, and Wax:On records and most recently recording with DC10 residents System of Survival.
During the last year Jude has been in the studio unremittingly, writing and recording her personal album. Electronic with a mix of life influences…”

Weaver came to Prince’s attention when he was a member of Sheila E.‘s band. He and some other members of the band joined The Revolution in the studio to record a jam of “I Would Die 4 U” that would later become the song’s 12″ single. Prince later picked Weaver to provide guitar for his short-lived R&B band, The Family. When The Family dissolved, several members including Weaver were absorbed into The Revolution and participated in the recording of the Parade album, and the accompanying tour (which would be The Revolution’s last). When The Revolution disbanded at the end of the tour, many of the newer members, including Weaver, stayed with Prince to become his touring band for the acclaimed Sign o’ the Times and Lovesexy tours. Weaver also participated in many studio sessions with Prince during this time.

URBAN IN PARLIAMENT!

‘URBAN IN IBIZA’ set to represent the island as part of LNADJ’s historic event inside the British Houses of Parliament

Urban in Ibiza co-curator, INKIE, confirms live paint at the event

(6th March 2013/FIX/Ibiza):

As far as historical turning points go, URBAN IN IBIZA’s recent announcement really took the proverbial biscuit with their unveiling of their charity foundation meets art project ‘SMILE BRITANNIA’, due to be launched today, Wednesday, May 6th inside the U.K Houses of Commons, in conjunction with the ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life Foundation’.

The LNADJ event is one that organisers have been planning for quite some time, and which today, becomes a reality. As part of the initiative, Urban in Ibiza’s curator, INKIE, will do a live paint at the event, most definitely the first of its kind to take place in the hallowed halls of the House of Commons, in the U.K’s capital city, London.

Contemporary artist RYCA will also be in attendance with his iconic ‘Mega Smiley’ image. Both artists will be producing limited edition prints for all attendees, as well as large scale pieces for display.

Urban in Ibiza’s creator and partner in the Westbank Gallery London, Paul ‘Dizzi’ Saunders, who has played a key role in the realization of the project, said of today’s fundraiser, “It’s a joy to be involved in such a historic event. Seems like only yesterday we were marching on Parliament for the ‘Freedom to Dance’ movement. Twenty-five years later, I’m welcomed with open arms; walking in the front door with a 2m high Smiley and one of the biggest DJs in house music, all to promote a government backed charity. This year is set to be our biggest yet in so many ways. Sons of Warhol are coming! Onwards and upwards.”

But that’s just the half of it. Step up, Norman Cook, much better known as FatBoy Slim, for he is the main man set to make dance music history by being the first DJ ever to play inside the House of Commons. Backing him up, the world’s most adventurous cellist, Matthew Barley, & young visionary beat poet, Sonny Green. Bryce Fury, the winner of Westbank’s national DJ competition, House the House, will also be showing us what he’s made of in the music department.  Could this whole thing be any more exciting?!

The event is hosted by Mike Weatherley, MP. Former music executive Mike, also champions Rock the House & Film the House competitions.

This is one seriously cool, seriously urban and seriously historic happening.

ARTISTS HAVE MORE FUN- at the MERCAT VELL….

If there is one thing that can be said about Ibiza, it’s that it tends to unite the weird and the wonderful under it’s bright blue sky. Creativity abounds round these parts and whilst the wonderful cacophony of music is the most obvious art known to Ibiza, there’s a whole lot more to it than that.

For this is an island just teeming with artists, in every single shape, fashion and form. From pure bred Ibicenco oil paintings of our symbolic white washed walls by the late, great Vicent Ferrer Guasch to the big eyed fairy dolls of mademoiselle Marta Torrassa to the emerging talent of Arno Yung to the undeniably innocent bonkers breath-takers of Jesus de Miguel to the rowdy rainbow explosions on controversial canvas of Ireland’s most highly esteemed contemporary artist, Kevin Sharkey…well, I could go on and on..but you get the picture, if you’ll pardon the pun. The point is, all this and much, MUCH, more right on the doorstep of Ibiza.

So, we  are  delighted to get involved and bring you ‘El MercArt’, as part of the Town Hall Initiative “Els Dissabtes al Mercat Vell’, organised by FiX IBIZA. This year, as well as our usual elements of live local music, kids activities, Es Juvert Artesania Market as well as the fruit, veg and flower market of the Mercat Vell itself, we’ve decided to add Art to the equation.

Our plan is this- to turn La Plaza Sa Drasseneta into a space where our island artists can get together and show us their wares. From the famous to the emerging, we hope to bring you a bit of art in all its forms over the coming weeks.

The MercArt project takes place on Saturday mornings, on the following dates,
25 February
10 March
24 March
14 April

ARTISTS CONFIRMED:

BOKE LUCHY

BO WOODY WINTER

DIEGO PIKABEA

MARTA TORRASSA

JOLEEN EIDE-JOHANSEN

LA SKIMAL

LAIA DOMINGO

To participate, contact us here at FiX ibiza on 645909098

This Saturday, as part of the Inauguration of the MercArt, we’re over the Ibiza full moon to confirm:
Boke Luchy presents: Cooking Colors
An extravagant action painting to welcome the Spring with colors; joined by Mrs P. Project on guitar and Boa on vocals.

Get involved, Ibiza…
