If there is one thing that can be said about Ibiza, it’s that it tends to unite the weird and the wonderful under it’s bright blue sky. Creativity abounds round these parts and whilst the wonderful cacophony of music is the most obvious art known to Ibiza, there’s a whole lot more to it than that.

For this is an island just teeming with artists, in every single shape, fashion and form. From pure bred Ibicenco oil paintings of our symbolic white washed walls by the late, great Vicent Ferrer Guasch to the big eyed fairy dolls of mademoiselle Marta Torrassa to the emerging talent of Arno Yung to the undeniably innocent bonkers breath-takers of Jesus de Miguel to the rowdy rainbow explosions on controversial canvas of Ireland’s most highly esteemed contemporary artist, Kevin Sharkey…well, I could go on and on..but you get the picture, if you’ll pardon the pun. The point is, all this and much, MUCH, more right on the doorstep of Ibiza.

So, we  are  delighted to get involved and bring you ‘El MercArt’, as part of the Town Hall Initiative “Els Dissabtes al Mercat Vell’, organised by FiX IBIZA. This year, as well as our usual elements of live local music, kids activities, Es Juvert Artesania Market as well as the fruit, veg and flower market of the Mercat Vell itself, we’ve decided to add Art to the equation.

Our plan is this- to turn La Plaza Sa Drasseneta into a space where our island artists can get together and show us their wares. From the famous to the emerging, we hope to bring you a bit of art in all its forms over the coming weeks.

The MercArt project takes place on Saturday mornings, on the following dates,
25 February
10 March
24 March
14 April

To participate, contact us here at FiX ibiza on 645909098

This Saturday, as part of the Inauguration of the MercArt, we’re over the Ibiza full moon to confirm:
Boke Luchy presents: Cooking Colors
An extravagant action painting to welcome the Spring with colors; joined by Mrs P. Project on guitar and Boa on vocals.

Get involved, Ibiza…
